"John Rocker, highly skilled relief pitcher for Time-Warner’s Atlanta Braves, holds some old-fashioned ideas that are considered by contemporary, corrected society to be queer. Mr. Rocker vocalized his fervent desire not to associate with the sexual deviants and perverts, illegal immigrants, welfare sponges, drugged-out punks, brutalizing thugs, and other assorted ill-mannered, ill-tempered, ill-intentioned flotsam residing in Gotham City. It is not precisely known where, when or how John Rocker became infected with these archaic, Victorian ideas. Distressed with the boldness of his blatant expression of this queerness, a national publication with a strong sports orientation obligingly alerted the nation of his predilection for racist, homophobia, anti-Semitism, and misogamistic behavior. No doubt, it was the intent of this noble journal, ... to raise the conscience of the nation so as to isolate and, thereby, to prevent the spread of this virus into the youth of the culture. The exposure of his inappropriate expression of strong, judgmental, and condemnatory beliefs about and his contemptible, personal choice to hold vindictive, vicious bias against socially and governmentally protected minorities elicited swift response. It was solemnly proclaimed that John Rocker’s hate speech reveals him as a man given to prejudice, favoring racism, encouraging intolerance, holding a narrow-mindedness, filled with chauvinism, and expressing gross insensitivity.

While some excused his remarks as the result of his inexperience or his congenital stupidity, John Rocker was held in open contempt by Media America. He was identified as a product of Macon, Georgia, a redneck from the Bible belt, to explain the despicable origin of his ignorance and bigotry. His venomous language depicted a vileness of heart gained, as was described by certain sources, from some ‘obvious connection with religious fundamentalism.’ While not directly connecting Rocker with Christian fundamentalists, one article explained that all hatred in the present world derives its source from some connection with religious fundamentalism. John Rocker was therefore both a proponent of and a victim of fundamentalism, and, in particular, of Christian fundamentalism.

No one ever challenged the accuracy or truthfulness of the comments made by John Rocker. The words were instantly rejected as wicked and vile because they attacked perverts, deviants, and bums. No one ever challenges the accuracy of the truthfulness of the attacks on Christianity by Ted Turner. His remarks are tolerated solely because they are addressed against biblical Christianity. Those who pander to the obscene and vile are praised. Those who promote decency and morality are condemned.

Decency must live in the closet while degeneracy walks the streets!

Am I the only one in America who sees in these events the danger this paradigm shift in the public acceptance of hatred for biblical teachings holds for Bible believers?"

"Fear of terrorism has placed Americans in danger of trading our ‘right to be let alone’ for the false sense of security of a national identification card.

[Though] all of us are willing to give up some of our personal privacy in return for greater safety...the fear of terror attack is being exploited by law enforcement sweeping for suspects as well as by commercial marketers seeking prospects. It has emboldened the zealots of intrusion to press for the holy grail of snoopery—a mandatory national ID.

Police unconcerned with the sanctity of an individual’s home have already developed heat sensors to let them look inside people’s houses. The federal ‘Carnivore’ surveillance system feeds on your meatiest e-mail. Think you can encrypt your way to privacy? The Justice Department is proud of its new ‘Magic Lantern’: All attempts by computer owners to encode their messages can now be overwhelmed by an electronic bug the FBI can plant on your keyboard to read every stroke.

But in the dreams of Big Brother (incorporated United States Government) and his [kissing] cousin, Big Marketing (incorporated Big Business), nothing can compare to forcing every person in the United States—under penalty of law—to carry what the totalitarians used to call ‘papers’.

The plastic card would not merely show a photograph, signature and address, as driver’s licenses do. That’s only the beginning. In time, and with exquisite refinements, the card would contain not only a finger-print, description of your DNA and the details of your eye’s iris, but a host of other information about you.

Hospitals would say: How about a chip providing a complete medical history in case of emergencies?

Merchants would add a chip for credit rating, bank accounts and product preferences, while divorced spouses would lobby for a rundown of net assets and yearly expenditures.

Politicians would like to know voting records and political affiliation. Cops, of course, would insist on a record of arrests, speeding tickets, E-Z Pass auto movements, and links to suspicious Web sites and associates.

All this information and more is being collected already. With a national ID system, however, it can all be centered in a single dossier, ever pressed on a single card—with a copy of that card in a national databank, supposedly confidential ("don’t worry, we’re from the government, and we’re here to help.") but available to any imaginative hacker [or government hack].

What about those who take the trouble to try to ‘opt out’? We will not be able to travel, or buy on credit, or participate in tomorrow’s normal life. Soon enough, police as well as employers will consider those who resist full disclosure of their financial, academic, medical, religious, social and political affiliations to be suspect.

The universal use and likely abuse of the national ID—a discredit card—will trigger questions like: When did you begin subscribing to these publications and why were you visiting that seditious Web site? Why are you afraid to show us your papers on demand? Why are you paying cash? What do you have to hide?
